Green Building Council

2011 Chair - Roger Layman, Roger Layman Architects The Central Carolina Green Building Council is dedicated to educating and incorporating environmental considerations into every phase of the home building process. That means that during the design, construction, and operation of a home, energy and water efficiency, lot development, resource efficient building design and materials, indoor environmental quality, homeowner maintenance, and the home's overall impact on the environment are all taken into account.

2011 Council Chair - Ben Mandon, Andrew Roby The Lake Norman Remodelers of the Lake Norman Home Builders Association is dedicated to enhancing the remodeling industry for consumers, remodelers and suppliers. Through education, networking and professionalism, the council strives to set the benchmark of integrity and credibility for the remodeling industry in the Lake Norman and surrounding areas. The members of the LKN Remodelers are passionate about their industry and raising the standards for all. The LKN Remodelers is also committed to giving back to the community. We continue to work with the NC Wildlife Federation to help replace wildlife habitats and we support Our Towns Habitat. We believe strongly that building solid relationships helps build a strong industry in our community.

Professional Women in Building

2011 Chair - Hollie Metz-Shepherd, ZL Metz Homes LNHBA Professional Women in Building is a diverse group of ladies that get involved in the community, raising money to go toward scholarships for high school seniors looking to advance his or her education with regard to the building industry, exciting fundraising projects and much, much more.
Monthly membership meetings are held during lunch on the third Tuesday of each month at Jeffery's Restaurant in Mooresville, NC, with a few exceptions for special occasions such as Christmas, membership appreciation night, and the Wine and Cheese Social. These special meetings offer the chance to socialize with a wonderful group of ladies that share the common bond of this industry.

Education Committee

2011 Chair - TBD The Education Committee serves under The Lake Norman HBA University and is charged with providing it's members with continuing education. The Education Committee and the Lake Norman HBA University is committed to offering educational programs on a monthly basis to establish better building practices and increased industry knowledge that is useful to both our members businesses and the mission of the association. The committee has developed a structure to present educational programs including NCBI Accreditation Courses for both our builder and associate members, and “lunch and learn” programs and seminars including Mechanics Liens, Better Building Practices, Builder Warranties, Contracts and Job Site Safety. The committee and The Lake Norman HBA University hopes to benefit the public and members of neighboring associations in addition to LNHBA’s own members. The committee meets every other month to consider and execute continuing education benefits for its members. We welcome new ideas and assistance in bringing important new programs to the membership. Parade of Homes Committee

2011 Chair - Mark Volak, Compass Building and Realty The Lake Norman Parade of Homes is the association's largest non-dues revenue generator and our biggest venue for promoting the home building industry and its professionals. This committee oversees this self-guided tour of the beautiful homes surrounding the Lake Norman area. The homes vary in style, setting, size and price. Each home is staffed during the show, often by the builder, so it is a great opportunity for consumers to meeting individual builders. 2011 Chair- April Byrd, Solid as a Rock The mission of the ASSOCIATES COMMITTEE is to bring value to all Associate, Builder and Affiliate members by providing multiple opportunities to interact and participate collectively and/or one-on-one with all members, to provide support to our builders and arrange functions and events that are appealing to the general membership.
The Associates Committee coordinates the Lake Norman HBA's high profile events and programs that are fun, informative and appealing to the entire membership. These events include Reverse Raffles, Spring and Fall Golf Tournaments, Sporting Clay Tournament, Casino Nights and many other special events or presentations.

2011 Chair - Tim Kirk, HHGregg Fine Lines The Membership Committee oversees the ongoing recruitment and membership support for our association. The Membership Committee is responsible for welcoming and educating new members at New Member Orientations and inviting currents members looking for a refresher on some of the benefits of membership. Committee members are currently focused on making membership the very best value for our members! The goal is to make sure that our members are getting all they can to be successful. We welcome feedback on the things that interest you and that you would like to see in the current year and beyond. Please consider being part of our committee. Membership Committee meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at the LNHBA office.

2011 Chair - Joan Inglis, Carolina Spaces The LNHBA Public Relations Committee is made up of a number of association volunteers whose goal is to keep the community informed about the positive impact our association has in the greater Lake Norman area. Periodic press releases are posted on our website to share information about newsworthy activities and events. The committee is involved in updating and managing the association's website and social media outlets.
